A rogue by any other name...
Upon reestablishing myself in Portland, I plan to attempt the practice of architecture under my own shingle.
Exactly what will be printed on that shingle is still up in the air, however, so along with the standard "Hunter Williams, Architect" I will be actively considering something with more pizazz. So...feel free to chime in with your suggestions, serious or not, in the Comments link below or email.

To get the ball rolling, here are a few I have tossed out (and mostly rejected):
- Lyons Architecture
(my favorite, & its my name after all, by sadly there is already a prominent international firm by that name based in Australia.)
- LHW4 Architecture
(ok, but pretty corporate sounding.)
- AoS Architecture
(not sure how I came up with this, but I like the pronunciation, and the initials could stand for: Architecture of Sustainability
Area of Search
Axis of Symmetry
Add or Subtract
Algebra of Systems
All options Stink
(ch)AoS
- Aarde Architecture
(because it is a aarde job. No really, means "earth" in Afrikaans)
now your turn
I think you should look for coporate sponsorship - perhaps "Architects love Coke" or "Hunter Wears Hanes Architects" - or have an add. service whereby for the duration of a project you insert your client's name into the firm name - "Susie's Architect". Just a thought....

you can narrow the range by crossing these off:
1)Hunter's House of Architecture
2)Fixie Design (you're sure to hear from SingleSpeed Designs)
3)While we're at it, Idee Fixe Design won't work either.
4)Maybe something resonating with surfing? but not too obvious.
a)Bottom Turn Architects
b)Spline Designs
c)Stringer Architecture
d)Blank Design (hey, reference to your blog)
The monkeys will stop here for now.
Good Luck
& Welcome Back!

fromundadownunder Archs.???
-okay, really i'll stop
Hopefully, the semantic any name will carry will will be overcome by what you do. Just look at The Beatles. As someone who has to do a lot of presentation drawings, I would just go for a cool logo. It sucks to screw up a cool board with some crappy logo (like ours--purple and yellow!???).

Ok, so I am taking your advice and going with something like:
Hanes Tighty Whitey Gearless Floater Williams architect.
(with a purple and yellow logo)
Thanks!
